The Stargazer Story Quilt is the original vision of elementary art teacher Amy Broady, who teaches art to students in grades 3-5 at A.L. Lotts Elementary School in Knoxville, TN.
The actual quilt will be created by local fiber artist Suzi Richters who is working with Mrs. Broady to create not only a beautiful piece of art for our school, but also to develop a meaningful learning experience for Mrs. Broady’s art students.
Hundreds of students will take part in this unique celebration of creativity, school spirit, cultural heritage, and mankind’s appreciation for the beauty and wonder of the night sky. Area artisans are welcome to join in our effort. In fact, anyone may participate in the Stargazer Story Quilt community through the portal of this blog! Please leave comments to encourage us, offer feedback, and share your experiences that would be of interest to those who are reading this blog.
A.L. Lotts is the proud recipient of an Arts Build Community (ABC) Grant. The ABC Grant Program is funded by the Tennessee General Assembly. This project is funded under an agreement with the State of Tennessee, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville.
